‘Not in our Name’

In this paper, we draw on our collaborative work running a salon for thinking about care in STS research, which quickly became more fostering an ethico-politics with as mode of academic intervention. Not dissimilar to the origins nineteenth-century France, provided provocative and disruptive space early career researchers (ECRs) think together. As attention critique increasingly point towards unequal distribution harms arising from marketization vulnerability ECRs ‘neoliberal university,’ have witnessed surge activities that promise supportive space, such pre-conference conferences, seminar series, discussion forums self-care workshops. ask not only what these modes might make possible, but also exclusionary practices patterns they mask or render palatable (Ahmed, 2004; Duclos & Criado, 2020; Martin et al., 2015; Murphy, 2015). Reflecting experiences organizing participating salon, stated purpose explore ‘ecologies care’ embodied socio-material practice (Puig de la Bellacasa, 2017), move ‘out there’ research ‘in here’.
